QMF Steel has a commitment to Quality, Safety, Environment and to the Personal Growth of those we engage in life and business.
2013 is on schedule to achieve ISO compliance, comprehensive safety training, environmental goals, personal training in spreadsheets, project management, spanish and other personal growth courses.
QUALITY
As part of a grant program for training provided by the State of Texas, John Cox of The ROME Group taught Quality Training class at our offices at QMF Steel, Inc. in the 4th Quarter of 2012.
Our training continues in 2013 to Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause, and the Essentials of 5 “S”.
The implementation of tagging Re-Work parts, use of Corrective Action forms, Supplier Qualification and Quality Tracking has proven to be an asset to the supply chain.
SAFETY
Drivers completed a Securement and Driving course which consisted of classroom and hands on training in the loading of materials, strapping the materials, over the road hazards, hours and safety.
ENVIRONMENT
Training will begin in 2nd Qtr 2013 for the handling of fluids and gases. The recycling of fluids and scrap materials is a standard procedure and the documentation of these standards is currently in process.
PERSONAL GROWTH
Excel Class was held in 2012 and attended by Jerry Wilburn, Richard Tompkins and Sherrill Lester. This class is a 3 part series and covers the basics of formulas and charts, macros and database building. Other classes to be held in 2013 include Spanish, Project Management and Blueprint Reading.
In addition to training at the QMF facility, mill manufacturing tours and classes are being attended by Purchasing, Sales and Quality personnel.
